IRAC 98 - Canada do Inferno (Ca Park) visit     (European Rock Art)
IRAC 98, Vila Real (Portugal), International Rock-Art Congress, sept. 1998
Gavrinis engraved slab

Rock art, the site!
The Canada do Inferno site is on of the most important sites in the Côa Park (see more in TRACCE Online Bulletin #5). The area is still menaced in winter by the water of the river Douro river. Horses and cows, palaeolithic style figures over red vertical panels. A huge gash in the rocky mountain slope: the foot of the damned dam, now projected to host a museum. A unique environmental and archaeological victory, we hope forever.
