The mayor of Albuquerque, without proper public notice, approved the bulldozing and paving of a controversial road through our sacred petroglyphs. The petroglyphs are one of the few remaining sacred sites.

The mayor of Albuquerque, without proper public notice, approved the bulldozing and paving of a controversial road through our sacred petroglyphs. The petroglyphs are one of the few remaining sacred sites.
You all know I don’t do this but the family are I are making a plea for your help. If you do not approve of this road, please call the mayor’s office and make your voice known. This is so important. The number is 505-768-5000. Calls are being taken right now.
My niece Laurie Weahkee was one of six people arrested last night because they stood in front of the bulldozers to try and stop the road. She and my nephew Sonny Weahkee have both been interviewed by the press. They are leaders of the Sage Council, a non-profit, grass roots, environmental protection group. My mother, who is in her 90’s, said today she will come to Albuquerque to stand in front of the bulldozers, too!
