NUEVAS REPRESENTACIONES DE ARTE PALEOLÍTICO
EN EXTREMADURA
RESUMEN: En este artículo se presentan nuevas representaciones
de arte rupestre paleolítico que han sido halladas recientemente en Extremadura.
En dos de los casos, la Cueva de Maltravieso en Cáceres y la Cueva de la
Mina de Ibor en Castañar de Ibor (Cáceres) se trata de figuras que
se añaden a un repertorio iconográfico ya conocido. El tercero de
los hallazgos es inédito, el Abrigo de Minerva localizado en el término
municipal de Garlitos (Badajoz), una interesante estación en la que se
documenta una pequeña pero significativa muestra de arte pleistocénico
grabada sobre un soporte inédito para el arte paleolítico: la cuarcita.
Una constatación que abre a partir de ahora un importantísimo campo
de cara a la investigación y las áreas de difusión del arte
rupestre paleolítico al aire libre en la Península Ibérica.

ABSTRACT: In this article there appear new representations
of paleolithic rock art that have been found recently in Extremadura. In two of
the cases, Maltravieso's cave in Caceres and the Mine of Ibor's cave in Castañar
de Ibor (Cáceres) treats itself about figures that they are added to an
iconographic repertory already known. The third one of the finds is unpublished,
Minerva's shelter located in the municipal end of Garlitos (Badajoz), an interesting
station in which there receives documents a small but significant sample of pleistocenic
rock art recorded on an unpublished support for the paleolithic rock art: the
cuarcita. A verification that opens from now the most important field with a view
to the investigation and the areas of diffusion of the paleolithic rock art outdoors
in the Iberian Peninsula.

1.- INTRODUCCIÓN
Las nuevas manifestaciones que se presentan en este trabajo son producto del intenso trabajo de investigación y prospección que ha llevado a cabo nuestro equipo durante los dos últimos años. Con él damos a conocer nuevas representaciones parietales superopaleolíticas en la región extremeña, algunas en contextos ya conocidos como la Cueva de Maltravieso o la Mina de Ibor y los nuevos hallazgos al aire libre del Abrigo de Minerva, en el área suroriental de la provincia de Badajoz, el primer conjunto de grabados pleistocénicos sobre soporte de cuarcita que ha sido documentado hasta el momento en Extremadura y que abre un interesantísimo campo investigador a tenor de los nuevos plantamientos que deberemos asumir sobre la distribución del arte rupestre paleolítico al constatar su presencia sobre este tipo de soporte. | Next Page (2/20)
